Ingredient

  • 1 oz WhistlePig 10yo Straight Rye Whisky
  • 1 oz Bulleit Bourbon
  • 1⁄3 oz Ginger liqueur
  • 1⁄3 oz Disaronno amaretto
  • 2 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Glass:

Photographed in an UB Koto Old Fashioned 30cl

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. Prepare skewered crystallised ginger for garnish.

How to make:

  1. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).

Garnish:

  1. Garnish with skewered crystallised ginger.

Review:

Rye and ginger liqueur provide the spice, bourbon adds a mellow backbone, while amaretto caresses the palate.

History:

A riff on my Toasted Old Fashioned Godfather, created in November 2021 by Linda Cooke, a Discerning Drinker, who reports that her version not only tastes good (we agree!) but is something of a cold remedy.
