Godmother

Ingredient

  • 1 2⁄3 oz Tito's Vodka
  • 5⁄6 oz Disaronno amaretto

Glass:

Photographed in an UB 1910 Old Fashioned 10.5oz

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

How to make:

  1. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish:

  1. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Review:

Almond-flavoured vodka served over ice. Hard not to like but lacks depth of flavour.

Variant:

Godfather (Scotch whisky and amaretto); Godchild (brandy and amaretto); The Boss (bourbon and amaretto)

History:

This 1970s cocktail is a vodka-based sibling of the better-known Scotch whisky-based Godfather. Both cocktails, along with the similar brandy-based French Connection, appear in Brian F. Rea's 1976 Brian's Booze Guide.

Fruity Godchild

A riff on a Godfather that's spirituous and delicately sweet almond with faint cherry fruit followed by a surprisingly dry finish

The Boss

Amaretto brilliantly enriches bourbon. I tried adding a couple of dashes of bitters but found myself preferring the simplicity of just the two ingredients
